In this 12 week workshop you learn to use a bodice block to create your shirt designs.
Service Description
This is a 12-week workshop (10 weeks during summer*) that will teach you different dart techniques, pattern manipulation, sewing construction of the bodice and button hole closure system. In this workshop you will create a bodice block for your size and learn how to use it to create your own top designs. You will also learn the basics of using a sewing machine, if you have never used one before. The workshop is also full of information on choosing the right designs to fit your body and the right fabric to suit your design. WORKSHOP OUTLINE This schedule gives you a brief outline of how the classes will progress throughout the workshop. WEEK 1: INTRODUCTION TO BODICE PATTERN (3 HOURS/ 3.5 HOURS IN SUMMER) Drape Bodice Demonstration Understanding Pattern Terminologies Introduction to Pattern Making Tools Bodice Measurements Drafting the Basic Bodice Block (for body) WEEK 2: INTRODUCTION TO SEWING (3 HOURS/ 3.5 HOURS IN SUMMER) Overview of Sewing & Sewing Machines Sewing Bodice Patterns Fitting & Adjustments Finalization of Personal Bodice Block WEEK 3: DART MANIPULATION (3 HOURS/ 3.5 HOURS IN SUMMER) Various Techniques of Dart Manipulation Dart Manipulation around Bodice WEEK 4: TRANSFER OF DARTS TO STYLE LINE (3 HOURS/3.5 HOURS IN SUMMER) WEEK 5: LONG TORSO BODICE BLOCK (3 HOURS/ 3.5 HOURS IN SUMMER) Buttons & Buttonholes WEEK 6-7: INTRODUCTION TO COLLARS (6 HOURS/ 7 HOURS IN SUMMER) Peter Pan Collar Open Shirt Collar Two-Piece Collar WEEK 8-9: SLEEVES & START OF FINAL PROJECT (6 HOURS/ 7.5 HOURS IN SUMMER) Long Sleeves (Button-Up) Puff Sleeves Final Project Planning WEEK 10-12: FINAL PROJECT (9 HOURS/ 4 HOURS IN SUMMER) *The Summer Top Class runs for 10 weeks during the summer but you will still attend for the same 36 hours as the 12-week class. We will provide everything you need for the pattern making portion of the workshop. However, you are responsible for purchasing the materials you need for your final project because you will be creating your very own design!

Cancellation Policy
Participation and attendance are essential for maintaining the integrity and quality of our workshop. The following policy outlines expectations for handling missed classes and cancellations: Missed Classes: -Commitment to Attendance By enrolling in and confirming your schedule, you are agreeing to be present and prepared on the designated days. This commitment ensures consistency and fairness for all participants. -Notification and Discretion If an unforeseen circumstance prevents you from attending a class, it is your responsibility to inform the instructor as soon as possible. However, approval of missed classes and accommodations (e.g., rescheduling or make-up opportunities) are at the discretion of the instructor. -No Guaranteed Make-Ups Missing a class may result in forfeiting the opportunity to make up the session. Instructors will determine whether alternative arrangements are feasible based on the workshop’s requirements and the availability of resources. -Repeated Absences Consistent absences may affect your participation in the workshop and could result in reevaluation of your enrollment. Cancellation Policy: -Workshop Commitment By enrolling in the workshop, participants commit to attending the scheduled sessions. Cancellations should be avoided to maintain the integrity of the workshop schedule. -Cancellation Deadline Participants who need to cancel their enrollment must do so at least 48 hrs before the workshop begins to allow for necessary adjustments. -Fees and Refunds Cancellations made before the deadline may be eligible for a refund. Cancellations made after the deadline may be non-refundable. Please see your plan policy for more details. -Emergency Exceptions Exceptions for emergencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Participants must provide timely notice and, where applicable, documentation of the emergency. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
