Do I need to know Pattern making?
No, you don’t need to know anything about pattern making. The workshops are designed to teach beginners most of what they need to know about pattern making techniques.
Do I need to know how to sew?
No, you don’t! Students will get a crash course on how to use a machine. The instructor will show you the components of a sewing machine, how to thread it and the basics of sewing. Trust us, you will learn everything you need to complete your garment.
Which workshop should I start with?
You can start with any workshop. The only thing that matters is what interests you the most. However, if you would like to take one of our supplementary classes (collars, sleeves or pockets) some knowledge of patternmaking is necessary. For example, if you would like to take the collars or sleeves workshop you need to have either taken The Top Class or have some knowledge of making tops yourself.
Do you offer just sewing classes?
At the moment, we do not offer any single sewing classes. Workshops are mainly about pattern making with some teaching on how to sew. We are open to your feedback, so if many of you would like sewing classes please make a request!
What do I need to bring to the first class/session?
Nothing at all! We will supply you with everything you need to start the workshop. However, for your final project you will need to purchase the materials to complete your chosen design.
Can I join a workshop at any time?
Sorry, you cannot join a workshop once the first class has already passed. Please look at our schedule for when your preferred workshop will be available again.
Can I cancel at anytime?
A student has two (2) opportunities to cancel their attendance at the workshop. The first opportunity is before the workshop begins to not be charged and a second is three (3) days after the first class. Please note that if you attended the first class, the $90 charge is non-refundable. Please see our full cancellation policy for more details.
What happens if I miss a class?
We offer supplementary classes every period. The supplementary class is 1.5 hours long, compressed to help the student catch up on what they missed.
Can I pay in person?
Sorry, we do not accept cash payments. All payments are accepted through this site
How will I be charged?
If you choose the 6 payment option, you will be charged the first installment 24 hours before the first class. Equally, if you have opted for the one time payment, your card will be charged the full value of the workshop 24hrs before the workshop begins.
How can I pick up items purchased online?
If you have purchased any items from our store and opted for pick up. Please bring with you proof of purchase and ID to collect them during the appointed time.
Can I book Open Studio Time online?
At the moment we do not have the means to offer online booking. However, if we get enough requests we will look into it. Check back for updates!
Why are the workshops so expensive?
The workshops are packed with knowledge which is equivalent to the material you would learn at a fashion design college. As a pattern making teacher at Lasalle College, Shirley, will be sharing her immense knowledge of pattern making and sewing. She has designed the workshops to help students become independent and confident to create patterns of the garments they wish to make for themselves. Furthermore, students receive complete access to a well-equipped studio including the use of pattern making tools and muslin cloth.
